TOOTHACHE
CAUSE
If you have a toothache, it can generally have two causes. Either a physical effect from the outside, which damages the tooth, or an effect from inside, which is not suddenly noticeable, but unfolds insidiously.
TREATMENT
When you make an appointment, we will look at your tooth to determine the cause of the pain and make a reasonable treatment recommendation.
FILLINGS
CAUSE
Healthy teeth are strong, but not indestructible. Due to a chain of unfortunate circumstances in an accident or due to deeper caries, it can happen that a piece of tooth breaks off and the tooth structure is damaged. The caries bacteria, if not prevented from doing so, can ‘eat’ their way through the enamel to the tooth nerve.
TREATMENT
Our primary concern is to preserve as much of your own tooth as possible and to maintain the natural character of your teeth even with cosmetic corrections, which is what the ceramic-reinforced resin filling makes possible.
PROFESSIONAL TEETH CLEANING
CAUSE
Well-kept teeth are beautiful, but they also make work. This is known to everyone who only ever brushes their teeth very briefly and then sits in our dental chair because caries has formed in the places that can only be reached by the toothbrush or dental floss if they are carefully brushed and cleaned.
However, even with conscientious brushing and flossing, we cannot look into our own mouths to check that all teeth are clean.
TREATMENT
In our office, we take a close look at your teeth to make sure they are clean, including the spaces between them, before polishing them with an enamel-strengthening paste.
Please remember: Brushing 3 times a day keeps the drill away.
BLEACHING
CAUSE
During life teeth become darker or more yellowish. This is a natural process, but can be enhanced by certain factors (consumtion of coffee, tea, red wine, nicotine, medication or even poor oral hygiene.
TREATMENT
Through bleaching we can help you whiten your teeth by reducing discoloration.
Here we offer you two options, in-office-bleaching, which is performed in our practice and home-bleaching, which is applied at home with specially made splints.
If you are interested, we will be happy to explain our methods and advise you individually.
ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
CAUSE
Due to a chain of unfortunate circumstances in an accident or due to deep caries, it can happen that the caries bacteria ‘eat’ their way through the enamel and the dentine up to the tooth nerve. In this case the nerve, which is surrounded by the dental bone, is attached and inflamed, which can cause high sensitivity and severe pain.
TREATMENT
In order to remove the pain from the tooth, we have to remove the inflamed nerve tissue from the tooth in a so-called root canal treatment and carefully clean and disinfect the inner of the tooth root with files. After this procedure, the tooth is cemented with a filling, if possible, or crowned within case of very large loss of tooth substance, which restores the original shape of the tooth.
Since root canal treatment is seen as the last attempt to preserve the tooth, we try to avoid root canal treatment whenever possible, and if it is necessary, to treat it according to the most modern standards of technology, in order to preserve the tooth as long as possible.
To avoid this procedure, please remember your preventive care and cleaning appointments or let us remind you of your preventive care in our recall system.
CROWNS
CAUSE
Teeth are strong, but not indestructible. If a tooth is largely destroyed by trauma or deep caries, or if the caries has even penetrated below the gum, it may be necessary to restore the tooth with a laboratory-made dental crown.
TREATMENT
If the damage to the tooth is so extensive that it cannot be repaired with a filing, it my be advisable to have crown made in the laboratory to strengthen and protect the tooth and help it regain its natural function.
To make your treatment more comfortable, we avoid the unloved impression- as much as possible- and instead scan your teeth with the handpick of a scanner.
BRIDGES
CAUSE
There are many reasons why a tooth may fall out or need to be extracted. Now a tooth gap not only contributes to the aesthetic effect of the smile, but can also have negative effect on chewing food. Due to the now missing counter pressure of the tooth, even teeth can start to drift.
TREATMENT
One method to close a tooth gap again is the bridge. Here an artificial tooth is inserted, which is held on the left and right side by two crowns on the adjacent teeth. Although healthy tooth surface is ground for pre-treatment, we can design the structure in such a way that as much tooth substance as possible is preserved.
To make the treatment more comfortable for you, we dispense with the unloved impressions- as far as possible- and instead scan your teeth with the handpick of a scanner.
IMPLANTS
CAUSE
When teeth are missing or existing teeth are too damaged or diseased that they need to be extracted, chewing or speaking may be difficult in addition to the altered appearance of the smile.
TREATMENT
Dental implants can be used to close gaps between teeth by placing an artificial root (screw) firmly into the jaw. The shape of the crown of the tooth is then recreated in a laboratory to mimic the natural tooth and reconstruct its natural appearance and original function. If the neighboring teeth are still uncut and untouched, this option is ideal so that the neighboring teeth can continue to retain their substance and do not have to be ground down for a bridge. Here we cooperate with oral and maxillofacial surgeons from the region.
PROTHESIS
CAUSE
When teeth are missing or existing teeth are too damaged or diseased that they need to be extracted, chewing or speaking may be difficult in addition to the altered appearance of the smile.
TREATMENT
Protheses are a way to replace missing teeth in the mouth. A prothesis is a replacement made of artificial teeth that sit on top of a plastic base, and can be inserted and removed from the mouth. Nowadays, dentures can be made in a laboratory to look like natural teeth.
In some cases, there may not be enough jawbone for suction retention, in which case it may be necessary to place impacts and anchor the denture to them.
DENTAL SPLINT
CAUSE
In the world of dental problems, there are also those that cannot be remedied by medical intervention.
These include teeth grinding during sleep, which is caused by teeth pressed against each other moving back and forth, grinding the enamel like a grinder.
Another aspect for some patients is aesthetic regulation.
TREATMENT
Dental splints are the little sisters of braces, they are made individually and are used to prevent teeth grinding caused by night grinding and also to alleviate muscle and neck problems or to regulate teeth aesthetically.
In the case of teeth grinding, the splint is inserted at night in order to preserve the tooth structure as well as to counteract muscle and neck problems.
Furthermore, there are splints that allow aesthetic regulation of teeth.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call us, we will be happy to advise you.
PARODONTOSIS
CAUSE
Careless brushing can cause a layer called plaque to form on and between the teeth from bacteria, components of saliva, and food debris, which can inflame the gums, often causing them to bleed during cleaning. If plaque continues to be left unbrushed, over time it urns into tartar. If this plaque and the resulting tartar then migrate under the gums, the jawbone is attached, the recession of which can cause individual teeth to fall out.
TREATMENT
Once developed, periodontal disease cannot be reversed, but only kept at the level of bone loss, as long as you keep your oral hygiene permanently optimized and regularly combine cleaning with preventive care at the dentist. Much is in your hands and you can do a lot yourself to prevent this. We will be happy to explain how our treatment methods can help you in a personal consultation.
